My sincere and deep condolences to all members of Edward J. Raser's family. I only just now heard of his passing so my apologies for this late note.
I had the delightful pleasure of meeting Ed a number of years ago when I discovered an 1856 headstone on my property in Plainsboro. During my research of this finding, I was immediately told by the Historical Society that I should contact this very highly regarded historian-Edward Raser. How fortunate I was to have been given this recommendation. Ed visited my property, shared with me a wealth of information and chose to add my finding in his Middlesex County Edition of Private Cemetery's. To say that Ed was "highly regarded" is an understatement. Ed was an old fashioned gentleman in every sense of the word. He was kind, thoughtful, intelligent, generous with his time and knowledge and I sensed a sincere down to earth kind of man.
I have thought of him many times over the year. Always with a smile and with much gratitude for nurturing the sense of wonder and exploration in me and others. Thank you Ed! May you rest in peace.
I hope I get to hear when his Memorial will be held.

I have to say, I came across Mr. Raser's Cemetery Locator for Monmouth County somehow and it became my cemetery Bible. I grew up in Monmouth County, and I love old cemeteries. Mr. Raser's book is an absolute treasure of mine. I was able to find his Mercer County book online, as well. I am so very sorry for your loss, and I wanted to let you know that he is thought of fondly and deeply appreciated for his exhaustive cemetery research and those precious books. Thank you Mr Raser! You have no idea how much good you left behind!
My deepest condolences to the family
Sincerely,
Annie Broyles

My sincere condolences to Ed’s entire family. I worked very closely with Ed in his later years helping him put together and publish ‘Our Raser Family” and his most recent book about the gravestones in Middlesex County. Ed was a kind and generous man and he was passionate about preserving the past for future generations.
