Obituary of Robert William Henningsen

Robert W. Henningsen, 83, of Edison, passed away Wednesday January 10, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson Univ. Hospital. Born in Irvington, he resided in Newark and Maplewood before moving to Edison 57 years ago.

He was a graduate of Southside High School in Newark, and attended Newark College of Engineering. He was a Draftsman at ITT Avionics, and was also a Parts Manager at several Chevrolet Dealers. He was a member of the Canal Society and a participant in the Danish Brotherhood. He loved auto racing, dancing, was a movie buff, and was a rail fan.

Robert was predeceased by his parents John T. and Edna Mae Henningsen and a brother, John Henningsen. He is survived by his wife, Joan Henningsen; his son, Arthur Henningsen and his wife Rita, son Chris Henningsen and daughter Brooke Henningsen; brother, Richard Henningsen; along with his nephew, Matthew Henningsen.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, January 13, from 2-5PM at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison, and on Tuesday, January 16  from 10-11 am with interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery, Metuchen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army at SalvationArmy.org.
