I was not fortunate enough to know Lisa Qian, however, after reading who she was, I will forever know how wonderful a person she was. A loving, kind, intelligent, and incredibly selfless human being. I will be donating to the Lupus Research Alliance in her memory.
She will never be forgotten.

Lisa,
You had an infectious positivity, kindness, and warmth that seemed to shine everywhere you went. I cherish the time that we spent together at school, playing ultimate frisbee, and taking roadtrips to the beach.
It's hard to believe that a light so bright could be dimmed, but your spirit will continue on in the many lives you've touched.

This is the group of friends and classmates Lisa and I rotated together with for surgery. We spent 16 hour days together for 2 months. Our leader and liaison was Lisa and by the end of our rotation I can say without a doubt that Lisa was the best of us. Whenever I was lazy or bitter during our rotation she was upbeat and encouraging. She picked up the slack for all of us and did the most and the best in every aspect of our education. 100% of the time she had the best intentions. It is painful to think of all her goodness and potential ended so suddenly. It is my intention to pursue my career with memory and thoughts of Lisa Qian, Class of 2018

Lisa-- I first met you at UC Davis when we did that surgical internship together. You laughingly told me you had driven all the way from New Jersey to Sacramento and I was amazed; not only had you done it, but done so with apparent happiness. That happiness characterized our friendship for that summer. You were clearly adventurous and spontaneous, and I was so excited to meet a kindred spirit, so we went everywhere. I'll never forget the look on your face when we went to Tahoe; you just looked up at the trees with the deepest awe in your eyes and said, "Wow... there's nothing like this in Jersey."
You met a lot of my other friends that weekend and your effervescent spirit attracted them all. That weekend, along with many other moments of that summer, were some of the most important and formative of my life. You were there for so many of them, and we became so close I was sure I was going to see you again. Before you left for home and I told you how sad I was to watch you go, you said, "Don't be too sad, I'm gonna end up back here. I can feel it." You did come back, to visit your sister, and I couldn't make it home to see you. I'm so sorry. I can't believe I let go of the last time I would see you.
It's so rare that someone can come into your life only for a short while and change it forever, but you really did that for me. I wish I could see you or hear your laugh one last time... I'm so devastated to hear that you're gone. I miss and love you so much dude. I hope you're riding in the sky. <3

LISA QIAN – That forever type of friendship. Years of catching up to do. Yet we’re still the same. Even when there are days, weeks, months that go without communication. I knew that you would be there when I need you. I knew that we’ll still be those best friends. You kept me sane for the years I was in montgomery. You matured fast and we became close faster. Although we don’t talk or hang out anymore, know that I'm always there for you, just like you’re always there for me. I still do not want to believe that you’re no longer here. Yesterday, while I was going through my things I found the beanie baby penguin you gave me in 8th grade. Now I found out you're gone. I promise you, I'm going to
visit you. I promise.

Dear Lisa,
We met the very first day of medical school, and you probably thought I was the weirdest kid in the class. But throughout the years, you were one of my closest friends at school. I'm sure you knew, but you were basically a little sister to me. I remember the times we would talk about what video games you were playing, our weekend plans, or just about life, or even those nifty gadgets that we just saw on BuzzFeed.
I miss you so much. It's really so hard for me to write this. I miss exploring new places with you, studying together, sharing laughs and secrets, grabbing food together... I miss your laugh, and how you would always get a little annoyed at my dumb inappropriate jokes. You were always so much more adventurous than me. I admired how easily you found optimism in bad situations. I admired how you were always so strong-willed and creative. You might not have noticed, but you pushed me to become a better person, let alone more adventurous and outgoing.
From our trek through Mill Creek marsh, to exploring the new little wonders in Winter Village, I won't forget the experiences we shared. I am truly glad to have met you Lisa. I know you're resting comfortably, and we will meet again. After all, life is all one big dream... you just woke up a bit earlier than the rest of us, off to continue your life as the surgeon you've already dreamt to be.
Love,
Jordan

Lisa, you were such a wonderful friend for me. You were there during a dark period of my life and made me smile when I thought I could never smile again. Your essence brought about a sense of calm and ease. We saw the world through your eyes with your artwork - never before was I able to see the beautiful contours of objects and things until I saw your work. Your imagination was - is - inspiring. Your laughter and happiness was irresistible. Your heart and kindness was enviable. I am blessed to have met someone like you in my life. May you be at peace and continue to bring joy and happiness in the worlds beyond. With a heavy heart, I say we will meet again, my friend.
