Obituary of Teresa Beno
Teresa Beno, 74, of Edison, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024. She was born in Krakow, Poland to the late Kazimierz and Kazimiera Tomera.
Teresa studied medicine in Poland with an ambition to help people. She loved her family and had a deep faith in God. She was very outgoing and liked to ski in the mountains, but also liked being a city girl. Teresa truly enjoyed to travel and seek adventure which would lead her to America. Teresa fell in love with Mikulas in America whom she married and would go on to become the best mother that her two daughters could ever ask for. She worked hard to become certified as a nurses aide and provided care for numerous residents at Central New Jersey Jewish Home for the Aged for many years. Her compassion for others, but especially the elderly, was one of her most precious gifts she kept giving through life. She retired from her job to care for her own mother. She would then return home to be the most loving grandmother to her ever increasing list of grandchildren. Her absolute dedication to her family was evident in all facets of her life, constantly bringing everyone together.
Another way she loved was by being a wonderful cook, full of great traditional Polish recipes and many new ones of her own. She loved to cook for her family and the word and feeling of "hungry" you would have thought never existed when visiting and even a day or two after with the amount of leftovers you would be sent home with. Teresa also had a great sense of humor and she knew just what series of jokes would leave you laughing in tears wondering how your sides could hurt so much. And though Teresa's fondness for gardening brought bloom to a myriad of flowers whilst cultivating an amazing vegetable garden year after year, she truly excelled at tending to our hearts the most. Her grandchildren will forever be spoiled by her warmth and affection for them and no amount of thanks could ever suffice to be blessed with so much love that she gave as mother.
Teresa was predeceased by her husband, Mikulas Beno in 2023; and her siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Diana Beno and Barbara Beno; along with her six grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Guardian Angels Church, Edison. Interment will follow at Lake Nelson Cemetery, Piscataway.
