John J. Pokorny, age 80 of Edison, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at JFK University Hospital. He was born and raised in Jersey City before moving to Edison forty-three years ago. Johnny was a kind and generous man. Once you met Johnny you had a friend for life. He took great pleasure in giving the gifts of his crafts to the people he loved. Just don’t touch his chocolate candy bars. John was predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth; a sister, Patricia Frendak; and a brother-in-law, Joe Santamassino. He is survived by his brother, Richard and his wife Michele of Florida; two sisters, Betty Santamassino of Edison and Joann Kyle-Labenski of Matawan. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to gather from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Matthew the Apostle Church followed by a burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
