It is with great sadness that today my mother Doris A. Onder passed away peacefully. It was a gift to know mom. The sun has set on an amazing life.
We all come from different walks of life but one thing we all have in common is we all cared for my mom. I am very grateful for all of you recognizing my mom as the amazing women she was.
Mom asked for so little, but gave so much to our family. My mom always knew how much we loved and cared for her. She showed us from a young age how to become men. She was always there for us providing support, during our education and athletic careers, always encouraging us to be the best we can. Mom always attended our sports games and was always there to cheer us on.
She had the most amazing lifelong friends that anyone could ever imagine; they always had great times together at the house, going out to dinner, teatime every afternoon, and they supported and loved each other.
Mom was a graduate of East Stroudsburg University with a teaching degree. She traveled Europe after college and we just recently found a diary of her trips, which outlined the amazing journey she had. Her passion was teaching, Mom went on to teach in Edison and made a difference in so many children’s lives. They always wrote her letters and cards about how much they appreciated her and loved having her as a teacher.
Mom is with my dad again. They are smiling down on us and knowing we made them proud.
Mom had a great support system from her beautiful sisters Aunt Jean, Aunt Pat, her brother Uncle Mike. She is with them now. Her brother Uncle Peter is in Florida.
She had so many close friends who have known her most of her life and enjoyed her company, and laughter. Mom would always love to know what her friends were doing, asked about there children and always liked telling stories, and loved her friends so much. She was special and loved to talk to everyone. She was outgoing and showed me so much of what life is about. All the neighborhood kids growing up loved mom and she treated them like her own, would do anything for them.
Mom lived life to the fullest and always was there for us when we needed her, showing us right from wrong, providing support, and ensuring we were always safe. She made me who I am today because of how much she cared, supported and loved us. She was one of a kind, she always had a story to tell and would always tell you what is on her mind. She was so strong, a heart of gold, an amazing mother, friend, and collegue.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandson William Jr making sure he was always doing well.
Mom you will be missed greatly I know your presence will always be with me and guide me in the future, thank you for being such an incredible role model for our family and loving us unconditionally, I hope we have made you proud. Love you mom.
