Scott G. Yaede passed away on Friday September 16, 2022 at home in New Brunswick, NJ with his wife and sisters by his bedside. He was 66 years old. Scott was born on his father’s birthday on March 14, 1956. The only son of Vincent J. Yaede and Claire Lynch Yaede, he is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mary Jane Jenkins Yaede. Also left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Laura Yaede Chonoles of Ruckersville VA, Dale Yaede Webster (Tim) of Ruckersville, VA, Kimberly Yaede Mariano (Lawrence) of Kendall Park, NJ and Donna Yaede Caputo (Anthony) of Cape May, NJ. He is greatly missed by his sisters in law, Joanne Jenkins Clarke (Joe) and Judy Jenkins O’Reilly (Joe); and brothers in law, Michael Jenkins & Tom Jenkins. Scott's nieces and nephews called him ” Funcle” Scott, as he was the fun uncle to Erin, Heather, Jackie, Kevin, Jake, Kyle, Jessie, Dave, Kayla & Bran, and a great uncle to seven, with one more on the way. He dearly loved them as if they were his own children and was always willing to help them in any way he could. He loved his large family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who all loved him for his kindness and his caring way. Until his retirement, he was employed by the US Postal Service for 35 years. He was a letter carrier in New Brunswick, North Brunswick and Highland Park and was always recognized around town. He cared for his postal patrons and took the extra time to talk with them and check in on the welfare of his elderly customers. The environment was his passion as he was a member of the New Brunswick Environmental Commission for decades, serving as chairman for many of those years. He conducted yearly environmental clean ups with the City of New Brunswick and was a steadfast volunteer at the annual Raritan River Environmental Festival. He was a member of the American Littoral Society, was for many years a water quality monitor on the Raritan River for the New Jersey Baykeeper. He belonged to the Lower Raritan Watershed Partnership and participated in their environmental clean ups and their boat building program up until last year. Scott was an avid kayaker and could be seen cleaning up trash as he kayaked along the Raritan River. He loved body surfing at the Jersey shore. He loved music and enjoyed listening to new and interesting music on YouTube. He was an adventurous person and along with his wife, Mary Jane, traveled to many places around the world. He was a long suffering Jets fan, a lifetime Mets fan and an avid Rutgers fan, and for a while a RU basketball season ticket holder. After retirement Scott spent most of his time outdoors, whether it was gardening or keeping his yard in meticulous shape. People knew Scott as a passionate and kind person, and will be missed by his many friends and neighbors. A celebration of his life will be held on November 3, 2022 with a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Church in New Brunswick, NJ. Donations in Scott's memory can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN.
