Alberto Goenaga, age 79, of Edison passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 at home. He was born in San Cristobal, Cuba and has lived in Edison since 1980. Alberto retired from Jefferson Smurfit, South Brunswick from the maintenance department. He was a member of St. Matthew’s RC Church, Edison and a die-hard NY Yankees fan. He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Matlide Goenaga. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lidia Maragoto Goenaga; sons, Abraham and his wife Esther of Bordentown, NJ and Alberto Jr. of Cuba; daughters, Lidia and her husband Joseph of Edison, NJ, Maria and her husband Robert of Fieldsboro, NJ and Caridad of Cuba. He also leaves his sister, Caridad Goenaga; and six grandchildren, Jeremy, Erica, Victoria, Joseph, Lauren and Sarah; and 1 great-granddaughter, Scarlett. Family and friends will gather for a Graveside Burial Service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2021 at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway, NJ. Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
